This Privacy Policy describes how DevToolsAPI ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our API and website at devtoolsapi.com.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Email address — required to generate an API key. Used to send your key, usage notifications, and service updates.
- Payment information — if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full card details on our servers.
Information collected automatically
- API usage data — request count, timestamps, URL parameters submitted, response status codes, and latency. Stored per API key.
- IP address — logged for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Not stored permanently.
- Request IDs — unique identifiers per API request for debugging purposes.
- Website analytics — we use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymized page views, referrers, and device types.
What we do NOT collect or store
- Screenshots or PDFs generated through the API — results are returned directly in API responses and not retained on our servers.
- The full content of URLs you request screenshots of.
- Passwords (we use API keys, not passwords).

3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Resend — transactional email delivery. Subject to Resend's Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics — anonymized website usage analytics.
- Law enforcement — when required by law, subpoena, or court order.
4. Data Retention
- API keys and associated email addresses are retained as long as the account is active.
- Usage statistics are retained for 13 months then aggregated.
- You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing support@devtoolsapi.com.
5. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption in transit, SSRF protections to prevent unauthorized internal network access, API key format validation, and rate limiting. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
6. Cookies
Our website uses minimal cookies:
- Google Analytics cookies — anonymized analytics. You can opt out via Google's opt-out tool.
- localStorage — your API key is stored in browser localStorage if you use the dashboard. This stays on your device.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of your personal data
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data
- Deletion — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest

8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.
9. International Transfers
Our servers are located in Germany (Hetzner). By using the Service from outside the EU/EEA, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in Germany. We comply with applicable data protection laws.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when changes were last made.
